How EQUINOX FOR HORSES horse rails and barriers are made ?

Our range of equestrian rails and barriers are made in-house through eco-friendly processes. They mainly rely on :

  • Eco-design: when our R&D designs a barrier, they always strive for lowering the impact to the environment. This principle applies to the raw materials as well as the life cycle of the finished product,
  • Circular economy and local sourcing : we work with local suppliers and vendors as much as possible,
  • Recourse to recycled raw materials (about 95% for all our ranges of fence, rails and barriers which are fully recyclables,
  • Durability : our horse rails, barriers, paddock fences and track rails are made to last through the end of their life which is about 25 years.

Thus, all our equestrian fencing, 2-rails free-standing barriers, 3-rails free-standing barriers, arena rails, track rails, gooseneck rails, are designed and manufactured in-house with the most advanced technology. As a result, they feature high quality standards and fit perfectly in stables, training centers, equestrian venues and racecourses.

You can also utilize our free-standing barrier as a gate at an arena entrance or as a divider in the middle of the arena for example. This is actually how Santa Anita Park set them up for the Split Rock Jumping Tour at Santa Anita in November 2024.

What is the difference between PVC horse rails and wooden arena fencing?

Eco-responsible, safe, easy.

Our arena railsracing railscrowd barriers and free-standing barriers and are made from 95% recycled raw materials and are fully recyclable.

We have been designing and manufacturing equestrian equipment for over 50 years.

This expertise in the design of equestrian fences and in the world of horses means that today we can offer stable equipment that combines all the features needed for riding in the best possible conditions:

  • Resilience: to absorb shocks in the event of a fall or impact on the rail (unfortunately it happens ?), which is not possible with wooden fencing.
  • Resistance: the best compromise between flex and sturdiness so that the rails does not shatter if a rider or horse hits the arena fence.

These features enable you to delinear the perimeter of your training or competition arenas in a safe manner. Our solutions designed for equestrian arenas are always ‘horse friendly’, which means they are designed without metal. Our rails and posts are all metal-free. Falling or hitting a rail made of  metal-free “recycled PVC” is less painful than falling on wood. Horsemen’s word !

Our free-standing barriers are also adjustable depending on the use case: available with 2 or 3 rails, you can choose the rail height that best suits your needs (depending on the height of horses or ponies, for example). Equinox free-standing barriers spacing is 6.56’ (or 78”).

We have also chosen white for our rails. White is the color that horses see best, as shown by this study carried out by the BHA (British Racing Authority). As a result, horses have a higher chance to avoid hitting the fences which prevents the rider from falling.

Last but not least, Equinox for Horses equestrian fences are highly resistant to UV due to their materials and fabrication process. They can be used in the most severe climates such as Florida, New York, California or Nevada.

As far as maintenance and upkeep of Equinox for Horses equestrian fencing and railing, they are very minimal.  Unlike wooden fences or even metal fencing, mother nature won’t deteriorate the PVC fence. From time to time, you may want to clean the rails and posts using a soft cloth or sponge.

  • Horses don't eat them,
  • They do not contain any chemicals that are necessary for their maintenance and durability,
  • They are very, very easy to maintain. A quick wipe down and you're done.

With this horse-friendly barrier, you've got a high quality material for your stables which is easy to erect thanks to their ground fixing system.

To wrap up, if we had to choose between wooden fence and Equinox for Horses PVC horse rails and barrier, it's obviously recycled PVC material which would win the battle. The PVC horse fence, indeed, features the best combination of safety, eco-design and ease of use.

Did you know that Equinox signature D-rail was chosen by Churchill Downs for their new turf course in 2022 while our Oval-Rail, Mesh Crowd Barrier and Arena 3 rails were awarded for the brand new Fair Hill venue, home of the Maryland 5 Star ! Fair Hill is the  7th FEI_CCI 5 Star in the world.

What equipment should you choose to secure your paddock?

Do you plan on organizing an equestrian competition and want to delimit your arena to separate the area for horses from the area designated for a paddock ? Or divide a pasture into several areas ?

We have the perfect solution to achieve these goals : Equinox free-standing barriers. They are available as a 2-rails or 3-rails barrier. They are removable, lightweight and easy to move. Designed without hardware, the finish of this fence makes it a high-quality product, more robust and safer than a separation made with wires and wooden stakes, for example. WIth their clipping system, they are easy to assemble.

Equinox for Horses arena divider combines the following features:

  • Easy to handle, lightweight and very stable,
  • Versatile usages, whether temporary or permanent,
  • Interconnectable elements for a secure closure.

This solution allows you to create customized areas to suit your needs. It brings an elegant touch and aesthetics to competitions, or all year round in your equestrian center.

Our 2-rail and 3-rail fences are also perfect for fencing off your paddocks. Unlike wooden fences, they last an extremely long time, and require no maintenance or addition of potentially pollutant products. And horses won't nibble or chew them. Also, unlike fences made of electric wire and posts, you won't have to replace them.

Safety is a critical element here too. Our horse fences, like all our PVC rails, are ‘horse friendly’. Our R&D engineers have designed this equestrian equipment to be as safe as possible for users:

  • No steel or metal, either in the rails or in the fence posts,
  • Rounded profiles to avoid any edges and limit the risks of injury in the event of a fall,
  • A lightweight, resilient unit that absorbs shocks while remaining strong and flex,
  • Adjustable rail heights depending on the type of fence.

In short, to create a paddock when you're organizing a horse show, Equinox for Horses free-standing barriers are a very convenient solution which is way safer than an equivalent wooden product. Their sleek look elevates the aesthetic of your venue.

The 2-rail fences and 3-rail fences are a durable, maintenance-free solution for delimiting paddocks or free-range areas for your horses.
