Equinox Grids are purpose-built for tough ground conditions in horse facilities. Whether you’re dealing with standing water, muddy paddocks, or erosion-prone zones, these high-density plastic grids lock in place to create safe, dry surfaces, navigable terrain. Each panel interlocks for secure footing and efficient water dispersion. Install in walkways, paddock entrances, or driveways to stabilize the ground and reduce repair costs. Engineered by equine professionals, our grid systems combine smart design and rugged performance to support everyday barn traffic. Equinox Grids are DIY friendly and can withstand heavy vehcile traffic.
All our EQUINOX GRIDS stabilization mats are made in USA, in our production unit located in Doral, Florida. They are part of the circular economy, made from 100% recycled and recyclable raw materials sourced locally.
Designed to improve equine welfare and meet their basic needs (particularly outdoor living), EQUINOX stabilization panels are robust and easy to maintain.
They are resistant to heavy vehicles (e.g. farm machinery) and provide all the comfort horses and humans need.
As well as stabilizing muddy areas, our mud control mats reversibility means they can be used in a wide range of situations: stabilizing the ground in an a paradise paddock or a horse track system, for example.
They can also be used to create a parking area, storage space, stabilized paths or accesses.
Finally, they can be used as a base for your riding areas: equestrian arenas, lunge rings, walkers, gallop tracks, etc.
EQUINOX stabilization slabs can be installed flat side up or upside down filled with sand or gravel, depending on how they are to be used and the nature of the soil in which they are to be installed.
To find out more about our installation recommendations, please consult our installation guide, which can be downloaded from the ‘DATA SHEET’ section of the product sheet.
If installed correctly, with proper maintenance and under “normal” living/use conditions, our products have an estimated lifespan of 15 to 20 years.

Can MY EQUINOX FOR HORSES stabilization mats be laid directly on the ground?
Yes, on stabilized ground, i.e. ground that is flat and load-bearing. On loose ground, we strongly recommend preparing the surface to be stabilized beforehand. This will greatly improve the quality and durability of your installation.
Do not lay your stabilizing mats on soft ground when the temperature is below 40F°, as the tiles will not anchor properly.
You can consult our installation advice by downloading our guide in the ‘Technical data’ section, just above this FAQ.
What uses are EQUINOX FOR HORSES stabilizing tiles designed for?
Their reversibility means they can be used in a wide variety of ways. Stabilizing muddy areas subject to trampling or heavy traffic (horses, pedestrians and vehicles), in particular:
- Winter paddocks, grassland
- Shower racks, watering areas
- Access roads, paddock entrances
- Car parks
Stabilization of evolution areas:
- Horse track system, paddock paradise...
Sublayer for riding tracks and arenas :
- Riding arenas
- Training or competition tracks
- Walkers
- Round pens...
Do I need to prepare my ground before laying the mud control mats?
We strongly recommend it! A smooth floor will greatly enhance the quality and durability of your installation. We therefore advise you to level your floor if it is not stabilized, i.e. flat and load-bearing.
On a flat, even surface, laying your tiles will be easier and the quality of your installation will be enhanced.
You can consult our installation advice by downloading our guide in the ‘Technical data’ section, just above this FAQ.
Are EQUINOX FOR HORSES anti-mud slabs slippery?
The spikes on the top of our stabilization mats are designed to slow down the movement of the hoof. As the surface is rigid, slipperiness cannot be ruled out, especially for shod horses. However, as horses live outdoors, there is always a risk of slipping on grass or any other surface.
To reduce this risk, we recommend that you cover your tiles with sand after laying them.
Can EQUINOX GRIDS be laid on a slope?
A slight slope is not a problem; on the contrary, it allows surface run-off. EQUINOX stabilization slabs are designed to be laid on any type of ground, which we advise you to prepare before laying the slabs.
If the area to be stabilized has a regular slope, the weight of our stabilizing panels, the effectiveness of their fixing system and their anti-lift system mean that they remain effective, depending of course on the degree of the slope.
